Bullbody Society

Bullbody Society exists to get young athletes access to coaching they could not otherwise afford — camps, clinics, and mentorship for kids whose families are not in a position to pay for a training program.

Why it exists

Youth sport has become expensive. Club fees, travel, private coaching, and equipment add up to a number that decides which kids get developed and which ones do not, well before talent has anything to say about it.

Bullbody Society is the attempt to put a dent in that locally.

Founder

Will Bullard

Bullbody Society was founded by Will “Bull” Bullard, a co-founder of BAM BAM Training.

2008 Harlem Globetrotters

Will has played for the Harlem Globetrotters since 2008 and is still on the active roster — a guard, number 33, 6′4″, out of Detroit.

2nd NCAA College Slam Dunk Contest

He came to them through the 2008 NCAA College Slam Dunk Contest, where he finished second on an ESPN broadcast; the Globetrotters saw it and called him in to try out. He calls that call his greatest achievement.

58′ 1.25″ Guinness World Record

A Guinness World Record set in 2018 for the longest backflip shot — 58 feet 1.25 inches — which still stands.

3× American Ninja Warrior

Three appearances on American Ninja Warrior, reaching the Las Vegas finals on the first, and placing 7th out of more than 200 competitors in a southeast qualifying round.

210′ Helicopter trick shot

A trick shot made from a helicopter 210 feet in the air.

2× Globetrotters awards

Culture Award in 2016 and Brand Excellence Award in 2019.

Before that he played at Texas A&M–Corpus Christi from 2006 to 2008, starting 12 of 23 games as a senior, after being named a 2005 USCAA Second Team All-American and taking All-League honorable mention at Richland College in 2006. He also attended New York Jets rookie camp in 2008.

Where the work happens

Three places.

Coaching on the gym floor

In the gym

Sport-specific camps and clinics, priced so the fee is not what decides who shows up.

Will speaking to a school assembly in a gym

In schools

Talks and workshops built on the same accountability material the mentorship program uses, delivered where the athletes already are rather than waiting for them to find the gym.

An outdoor session with a local program

With the programs already doing this

Sonoma County has coaches and organizations working with these athletes now, usually with less money than they need. Where it helps more to support them than to duplicate them, that is what the Society does.

Alongside the training

Every athlete the Society brings in gets the same mentorship structure a paying athlete gets — goals with dates on them, someone checking whether the work is happening, recruiting guidance, and help fitting school around a season.

What we are trying to build

The measure is straightforward: how many kids in this area get coaching, mentorship, and a place to train who would not have had one. Everything else is downstream of that.
