Personal training

Rehab and Recovery

Two things happen on this page. One is training an athlete back from an injury. The other is the recovery equipment on site, which is available whether you are hurt or not.

Coming back from an injury

An athlete cleared to train is not the same as an athlete ready to train the way they did before. The gap between those two is where most reinjuries happen.

Returning athletes get reassessed rather than resumed. We screen the affected side against the other one, load conservatively, and progress on what the movement looks like rather than on a calendar. If your physician or physical therapist has restrictions in place, those govern — we program inside them and we do not overrule them.

We are not a medical provider. We do not diagnose, we do not treat injuries, and when something belongs with a clinician we say so.

The recovery equipment

Cold plunge

A full-immersion cold water pod. Athletes use it after hard sessions and on heavy training weeks. Cold immersion is well established for managing perceived soreness; the picture on whether it helps or blunts long-term adaptation is genuinely mixed, so we time it around training rather than after every session.

Infrared sauna

Used for post-session recovery, and for the straightforward reason that athletes will sit still for twenty minutes in one and will not otherwise.

AJAX rehab machine

Built for foot, ankle, and Achilles rehabilitation — the injuries that are hardest to load progressively with standard equipment. The AJAX lets us put controlled, measurable load through a lower leg that is not ready for bodyweight work yet.

Compression boots

Pneumatic boots that cycle pressure up the legs. Most useful on tournament days and in the middle of a heavy block, when the next session is closer than a full recovery would like.

Cupping

Suction applied to soft tissue to work on local tightness and mobility. Athletes generally use it on a specific area that is not responding to normal mobility work.

Massage gun

Percussive work, used before a session as part of warm-up and after one on areas that are tight. It is the most portable thing here, and coaches will show you how to use it on your own.

How recovery fits the program

Recovery is scheduled, not improvised. A heavy week gets more of it, a deload week gets less, and the day before a competition is not the day to try something new.

Sleep does more than any of the equipment on this page. Coaches will say so, repeatedly.

Book a session

Recovery hours are 3 to 7pm, Monday to Friday, and book online. Call 707-753-3583 if none of them work.

Every participant needs a signed liability waiver on file. Athletes under 18 need a parent or guardian signature.
